Got a new job! In the Mobile Development market

I have been working as a PHP developer / sysadmin / serveradmin at Fast Company for 3.5 years now. At Fast company I was responsible for developing all underlying code of every back-end (sometimes front-end as well), as well as manage all physical and virtual servers, internal servers and workstations.

Though the job description has a lot of aspects to it, I became to miss the challenges I was initially looking for in my carreer. That doesn't mean there were never any challenges to begin with; I have learned a lot at Fast Company. However, continuing development on the same projects for too long without any new challenges ahead, tells me that the time for change has come.

Steape
As I was looking for a new job, I was contacted by Steape, a Mobile Development company. Mobile development is a brand new market, and Steape is innovating within that market. Steape has a platform which (using webviews, xml and xsl) can create applications that can run on all 5 major platforms; Windows Phone, Blackberry, Android, iOS and Symbian.

My new job
I set out to find a job that can give me the challenges that I am looking for, and that turned out to be being a developer / app creator at Steape. Not only am I entering a market I don't know that much about (though a little, through the articles I wrote for ByteMods), the market is brand spanking new as well. And not only the market is new; Steape is innovating within that brand new market, creating the opportunity for a whole lot of fun things and challenges.

I began my new job 1.5 months ago, I quit my job at Fast Company on the 30th of August. I sort of forgot to blog about it as I was busy developing features for my own company BTM-Net. So far I have found a few challenges already, which is very nice. They include creating apps and messing around with a lot of smart phones, as well as going to meetings, holding a presentation and teaching dudes how to use the Steape platform.
